SHOP NEUTRALS

I can not get enough of neutrals for fall. Whether it’s camel, blush, gray, ivory or any other neutral soft hue I love the effortlessly chic vibe of the toned down palette. I’ve slowly been adding more neutral pieces to my fall and winter wardrobe and they are quickly becoming closet staples because they are so wearable. Not only do neutrals make any outfit look chic, but they go with anything that’s already in your closet, so it’s a win-win! One of my favorites, J.Crew, has a ton of fabulous neutrals this season, and I’ve teamed up with some bloggers to give one lucky winner a $250 J.Crew gift card. Lucky for you, they are also having an awesome promotion right now with an additional 25-30% off all sale items! Perfect time to stock up on sweaters, jackets and maybe even some cozy pjs. See some of my latest posts featuring neutrals here, here, here and here.

JEWELS: EMERSON COLLAR NECKLACE // HEX CUFF IN IRIDESCENT // MARLEY CUFF IN BRASS // DEVON CUFF IN BLUE //  CARLY BRACELET

OUTFIT: SEQUIN SKIRT // SILK BLOUSE // COBALT PUMPS

Last week I headed to downtown Providence with Loren and Maggie from Loren Hope to style some pieces from her fall collection. One of my favorites is the Emerson Collar Necklace and I wanted to wear something that would let the necklace shine, but also compliment the blue tones and iridescent hues in the stones. Cobalt is one of my favorite colors, and I think it makes the necklace pop. It’s one of those pieces that would look good with anything, even a plain white tee, but paired with this silk blouse and silvery blue pencil skirt makes this outfit sophisticated, glam and fun. And our backdrop wasn’t too bad either. How cool is this graffiti wall we found? I love discovering beauty in unexpected places. Stay tuned to see how I styled this necklace with a more laid back vibe, and you can check out the Loren Hope blog for a sneak peek.

P.S. J.Crew has 30% off select sale styles. Love this quilted vest, these jeweled ankle strap sandals and this pinstripe bomber jacket.

BLUSH PLEATED SKIRT AND KNIT SWEATER

J.CREW PLEATED LATTICE SKIRT // J.CREW STRIPED LINEN TEE // BLUSH SWEATER // CONVERSE // KENDRA SCOTT DRUSY RING

Over the weekend we soaked up every last minute of warm sun that we could. It felt like the perfect end of summer send off, and we even got in what might have been our last swim. The water was chilly but refreshing, and we headed to our secret spot where there was almost no one in sight. I haven’t had a chance to wear this pleated skirt from J.Crew since I wore it during NYFW, but I practically lived in it all weekend. In case you didn’t notice I’m really loving neutrals for fall, particularly blush. It’s such a pretty neutral, that goes with almost everything and gives a slightly feminine touch to any outfit without being too “girly.” For more of my favorite fall pieces you can check out my shop page, and follow along on Pinterest.

Fall is the best season for prolonging those summer staples you just don’t want to say good-bye to yet, and this weekend was quite possibly the most beautiful end of summer send-off (I know it’s already fall but it felt like summer!). I try to keep my denim shorts out as long as possible (I’m too old for the denim shorts and tights trick come late fall). I’ve being seeing a lot of denim on denim this season, which I love, but it can also be tricky to pull off, so I layered this look with a light gray sweater to break it up a little bit. I’ve been on quite the hat kick lately and I was a little intimated by this big floppy hat because I was afraid it would be too much, but I think it works with this outfit (and it’s under $30!). And can we talk about these boots from Talbots?! They are SO comfortable and stylish. I had a hard time deciding between the black and the brown but ultimately went with black because I didn’t have any other pairs that were similar. The leather is really soft and I don’t often wear shoes or boots without a heel but these are so chic and easy to wear with any outfit they’ll definitely be on rotation in my fall wardrobe. Hope everyone had a great weekend and is ready for the week ahead! Stay tuned for lots of fun fall content this week. xx

SOCIAL MEDIA “SELFIE” CHALLENGE

photo 1

I’ll be the first to admit that I am lost without my phone, and I’m willing to admit it. I’m constantly texting, Instagraming, Tweeting, Pinning, taking photos. I get that sinking, sick almost going to barf feeling when I can’t find my phone in my bag or my car, even though I know it’s in there. So I was intrigued when PopSugar asked me if I’d be interested in doing a social media cleanse, and then sharing my experience with all of you. I’ll admit I was a teeny bit terrified, I mean my phone is my lifeline. I often find myself saying, “what did we do before cell phones?” But I’m also constantly trying to find ways to live in the moment, take a step back and appreciate what’s around me, and in ABC’s new comedy, Selfie, the main character, Eliza Dooley is trying to do the same. We could all benefit from a day of living in the moment and taking our heads out of our…cloud.

So last Saturday, I did just that, I turned off my phone (ok I put it on Airplane mode) and lived in the moment, and it couldn’t have been the more perfect time. Last Saturday my cousin got married. I was a bridesmaid along with my two other cousins. We grew up together, and this was the first cousin wedding, so it was a big deal. I had to use my phone in the morning to coordinate some timing, but once I got to my Aunt’s house to get ready, the phone was off. It was really a lot easier than I thought. Yes I was definitely tempted to check Instagram, my email, and to see if anyone had texted me but I felt liberated too. It was so nice to enjoy being with my cousins and my Aunts, getting ready for the wedding, chatting, doing our hair and makeup and just enjoying each other’s company. It was such a beautiful day and we sat outside, drank wine and talked while we got ready. I think many of us can admit that like Eliza, the main character in the show Selfie, we are social media addicts, spending more time checking our Instagram feed or Facebook status than living in the moment and enjoying what’s around us. And even though I went without a phone for one day, I felt a greater appreciation for the people around me, and thankful that I got to experience my cousin’s wedding uninterrupted by email or Facebook notifications. What do you guys think? Are you up for the Selfie challenge? I encourage you to try, even for an hour, and see how you feel, and what you discover! Find out how to watch the new ABC show, Selfie, below.

BERRY MANGO SMOOTHIE RECIPE FOR BETTER SKIN AND HEALTH

IMG_1064

SHOP THE POST

Fall is the season of changing leaves, football, cozy knits and comfort food. As the seasons change though our skin can go haywire and our immune systems are compromised. This super quick and easy smoothie recipe is packed with nutrients and is a great on the go breakfast or snack. Blueberries and strawberries are loaded with antioxidants, fiber and Vitamin C, while mangos can help clear skin and lower cholesterol. Bananas contain fiber, potassium, vitamin C and B6 all of which support heart health. Chia seeds which are naturally gluten free are high in important nutrients for better bone health, like calcium and manganese, and are high in antioxidants. They also are loaded with fiber and protein which can aid healthy weight loss. The granola is also a great source of fiber, minerals and healthy fats. For those of you that can’t eat gluten, you can skip the granola or use a gluten free option. This smoothie takes about 5 minutes to make and is great for an easy breakfast on the go. Put it in a ball jar, throw on the lid and you can take it with you on your commute to work or if you’re running errands during the day and need a quick and healthy snack!

INGREDIENTS

Frozen blueberries, strawberries and mangos

1 ripe banana

Yogurt (I love Siggi’s because it’s not loaded with sugar, but any greek yogurt is great)

Fresh orange juice (for store bought get it with Vitamin D added)

Chia seeds (about a tablespoon or less)

Granola

DIRECTIONS

Combine frozen fruit, banana, yogurt, orange juice, and chia seeds in a blender. Blend until smooth. Pour smoothie in glass and top with granola. Stir granola into smoothie and enjoy!
